Maria started working in PwC in 1997 and she is the Partner that leads M&A Tax practice in Portugal, Angola and Cape Vert.

She is also Diversity & Inclusion Leader of the three territories managed by PwC Portugal and she is leading the Net Zero Emissions program of the Firm and responsible for the tax department of the Oporto office.

Maria started her career in an investment bank. She has significant experience in working with national and multinational groups in different tax areas, in structuring investment into Portugal and in setting-up and restructuring international corporate structures.  She has been involved in a number of large transactions over the last years, in different activity sectors, including privatization processes, both for corporate and for private equity clients.

Maria cooperates with several business publications and is responsible for some tax related subjects in some Universities, namely in University of Porto Business School and the Portuguese Catholic University. She is also a judge in the Portuguese Fiscal Arbitral Court.

Maria has a degree in Law by Portuguese Catholic University, a Post degree in Spanish Taxation by Santiago de Compostela University and a MBA in Management, by Portuguese Catholic University.
